Things don’t always go according to plan in the Republica Unicornia.

Grouchy Unicorns are skeins that don’t mean the Head Yarn Wench’s exacting standards: prototypes that didn’t make the cut, skeins where the dye acted a fool, skeins with excessive variation from the standard for the colorway, etc. These quirks are purely cosmetic and do not affect the quality of the yarn itself.

PLEASE NOTE: Photos are representational and do not show the quirks in each skein. I have noted these in the listing, but please buy at your own discretion and remember these are a DEAL. Grouchy Unicorns are not eligible for additional discounts.

QUIRK: A smattering of light spots.

The Perfect Filing System is part of the Poirot Yarn Collection!

Felicity Lemon is near and dear to my heart! She’s a Virgo queen with a penchant for order, red hair, cats, and an enviable 1930s wardrobe (goals all around!). Miss Lemon’s colorway is inspired by the gorgeous green dress she wears at the end of Peril at End House.

The Perfect Filing System is a slightly blue leaning medium kelly green tonal with flashes of chartreuse here and there. The greens of the 1930s are wonderful- this one would really shine in a vintage sweater pattern!

Republica Unicornia's Rambouillet Worsted base is 100% U.S. Grown and Processed Superwash Rambouillet Wool, 196 yards/115 grams/5-Ply. It's springy and has a lovely round hand (and some kickass stitch definition). We are in love. Also, bonus points for singing "Rambouillet" to the tune of Led Zeppelin's "Ramble On."

Everything you see here is made with love and some swearing in fabulous Atlanta, Georgia. Yarn is ethically-sourced (museling-free) and dyed with professional, colorfast, lightfast acid dyes.

Due to the nature of hand-dyed yarn, I recommend that you alternate skeins in larger projects. There are often variations even within the same dyelot, so if you need a larger quantity than is available here (say, for a sweater), we've got the solution for that!

Some color bleeding is normal during the first couple of washes. I wash the bejebus out of my skeins, but some colors are just bleeders.

Your handmade items are magical delicate flowers and should be treated as such. Handwash in cool water with a delicate detergent (I recommend Sock Soap from Tuft Woolens) and lay flat to dry. Machine wash at your own risk (I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your project during machine washing. Those things are violent.)

Yarn is dyed in a pet-free studio but stored (behind glass!) in a pet-friendly one.

I do my best to make sure items are true to color in the photos, but monitors/eyeballs/etc. differ. Blues and greens are especially hard to capture (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, ELECTRIC MRS. PEACOCK.)

If you have a problem with or a question about your purchase, please contact me directly. I'm a reasonable human being.

Thank you for supporting Republica Unicornia!
